What does all the affiliate
terminology mean?
As you can see this is just a small selection and we will try to
answer most of them as best we can. If there is one good piece of advice to be
offered at this time it would be to go online and purchase some good affiliate
eBook primers. There are many available online, just Google and appropriate
term and you will be provided with a big list of available material.
Now we will try to answer some of the above basic questions
raised.
Which platform provider do I use, ClickBank, JVZoo etc.?
There are many online affiliate marketing providers and the
final choice is for you to make. However it has to be said the main players
such as ClickBank, JVZoo and the like, provide a complete service and have
reputations second to none.
How much will it cost to join and set up my account?
Virtually all of the main affiliate program providers are free
to join and unless you have a specific reason for making a payment then there
should be no reason why you have to hand over your hard-earned money to a
provider.
How will I get paid my commissions?
There is no specific answer to this except to say that if you
sign up with one of the main providers then they will provide all of the
necessary information in their terms and conditions. If you choose a program
provider that does not clearly provide this information then do take care,
there are some very unscrupulous people out there; you have been warned.
Who will pay my commissions? How often will I get paid? What
is the minimum percentage commission payment?
These three queries are once again usually covered in the
program provider's terms and conditions.
Will I have to buy the product first?
No, it's not necessary to buy the product first but if you are
serious about selling affiliate products then you should make every effort to
familiarize yourself with the product and this will often mean buying the
product.
As a side note, many sellers will provide you with a free copy
or at the very least a free sample of their product. This would only apply to
reasonable value digital products or small disposable type physical products.
You won't be getting a 63 inch LED television as a freebie.
Is it a one tier or two tier program? How do I track my
sales and commissions? What does all the affiliate terminology mean?
These last three, along with numerous other technical queries
e.g. "hits per ratio, what does it mean? - does the vendor pay for hits
and impressions? - who supplies support?" All of these queries can be
answered by utilizing the available online resources and doing your due
diligence prior to becoming a full-time affiliate marketer. This doesn't mean
you have to do all of this before you start your affiliate business but do make
sure it is an ongoing regular practice.
The online rules of affiliate marketing are constantly evolving,
which is one the things that makes it such an exciting business. It's your sole
responsibility to keep yourself informed and up to date with all of the
changes.
This is just a sample of questions you may want to ask before
jumping into an affiliate marketing business. Don't be afraid to contact the
affiliate program provider and ask pertinent questions. All of the top tier
programs have 24/7 support desks and are happy to answer your concerns, after
all your business is good for their business. For a good affiliate product I
